Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of the three federal economic immigration programs managed through the Express Entry system in Canada. The CEC is designed for individuals with skilled work experience in Canada who wish to become permanent residents.

  1. Express Entry Profile:

    • Individuals interested in the Canadian Experience Class must first create an online Express Entry profile.
    • They must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the CEC, which includes having at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the three years before applying.
  2. Eligible Skilled Work Experience:

    • To be eligible for the CEC, individuals must have acquired their skilled work experience in Canada in a National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, or B occupation.
  3. Language Proficiency:

    • Candidates must meet the minimum language proficiency requirements in either English or French. This is typically demonstrated through language tests like the IELTS for English or TEF for French.
  4. Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Points:

    • Candidates in the Express Entry pool are assigned a CRS score based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability.
    • The highest-ranking candidates, including those with Canadian work experience, are invited to apply for permanent residence through regular Express Entry draws.
  5. Invitation to Apply (ITA):

    • Once invited, candidates have a limited time (usually 60 days) to submit a complete application for permanent residence.
  6. Application Process:

    • Successful candidates must submit a complete application along with supporting documents, including proof of work experience, language proficiency results, and other required documentation.
  7. Permanent Residence:

    • If the application is approved, candidates and their accompanying family members become permanent residents of Canada.
